Completely true depiction of my adventures with a soft shell turtle, except Ben should be poking it wit a twig.
Sean had snagged this turtle instead of a catfish. I had to wade in to get it so we could get the hook out of him, but I grabbed it the wrong way round.
Now, soft shell turtles can extend their necks out, even more than other turtles. This one was the size of a hubcap and could stretch his neck about nine or ten inches.
So Sean decides it is a photo opportunity, I'm trying to keep the turtle from taking a chunk out of me, and the turtle is getting frustrated.
eventually we got the hook out and let the turtle go. But now I'm gonna try to get my cousin's recipe for soft shell turtle.

Fortunately I had gloves on or I might have dropped it too.
Real life events are fun, but difficult to draw in my experience.
Glad you like it.

Hmm...how do I put this? It looks like the turtle was trying to latch onto your, ahem, "danglies". Good thing you got him tossed overboard before he did any damage.

And if your friend was so anxious for a good close-up, you could've tossed him the turtle. Just a thought.

That's exactly what he was trying to do. He actually got my pants leg once or twice. Fortunately these mud turtles haven't got quite the snap of a snapping turtle, or I'd have holes in my pants.

You always think up things you shoulda done, long after the event. I'll remember that next time though,
