Iron Maiden 2 by AGMorgan Iron Maiden 2 by AGMorgan
Here is a full body shot of the Woman. Now you can plainly see that I made her shoulders to broad and put her breasts just a bit to low.
Oh the shame, the shame.
I wasn't going to put more pictures of her up. Didn't want her dominating my gallery totally. But I'll bow to popular demand and put up another. Hope you approve.

I hadn't noticed there was another picture of her! I don't think her proportions are as bad as you think; I know a woman who's shaped like that, broad shoulders and all.

I would love to see this displayed outside somewhere, she really is beautiful.

(random late comment ftw :giggle:)

So long as there is a comment, it is not late. Thanks.

I guess I am just being nit picky about the proportions, and you're right about displaying her outside. But it needs to be some place out of the rain.

Gotta be mindful of the dangers of rust ya'no.

That was why I didn't suggest a place; I couldn't think of anywhere outside yet safe from rain where people go frequently. :giggle:

I really like this piece. And personally, I think her proportions work well for her. I can't see her from all sides obviously, but I think the breasts are fine and the broad shoulders seem appropriate for the material being used (she looks very "Metropolis"-like). I especially appreciate that you made this with found materials. The pieces you've chosen and the use you've given them are all very effective.

Back in college sculpture class I made a couple of life-size porcelain dolls from body casts of a friend of mine. I had planned on making a life-size "mechanical" woman of some kind but never got around to it. I think you've just inspired me to go ahead and give it a try sometime soon :).

I'm glad you like her, warts and all. I suppose the proportion issues aren't all that noticeable unless I point them out or you spend to much time analyzing her, like me.
Its always great to help someone get inspired on a subject. Now I've done it twice! When you finish this project, be sure to tell me as soon as you get the picts up.

Damn it, I give up...
Google! Tell me about this "Metropolis"...

Thanks for the inspiration ;). I must warn you that it will probably be a long time before I ever get something like that done (I have no access to metal-working tools at the moment). But that can't stop me from designing on paper!

"Metropolis" ([link]) is a silent film by Fritz Lang made in 1927. One of the most recognizable images from the film is this robotic woman with a very art deco look. I think it's the construction of your Iron Maiden's head/neck/shoulder area that reminds me most of her. :)

btw the breasts aren´t really too low. At some women they hang exactly that low...
The shoulders are a bit masculine, okay.
But anyway, great work!

Actually, the more I think about it the more I think I should have made the legs longer and the hips wider. Proportions are tricky that way.

Next time maybe.

I believe her slight disproportions make sense and add to her somewhat creepiness. Because she's kind of creepy, but in a really good way. She's cold and robotic, but alluring at the same time.

Looks fantastic!

Thanks. I meant for her to be kinda serene, but she did come out a bit creepy. She was almost shot once by a startled security guard at a show, one dark and very stormy night.

Thank you, she's still got a few problems though.

Once I decided I wanted to do a female figure, I had to find and cut a few pieces that fit for a rib cage and progressed piece by piece from there.

If it dose end up in a museum it will most likely be after I'm dead and gone, but it might even so.
